Topic Showcase – Thursday 21st March
This morning the children showcased what they have learned through our topic William Wallace & Robert the Bruce. They were really excited about it! All the children had prepared something to present and each child did a fantastic job. So proud of all of them!
Thank you to all the parents and carers who attended the showcase. The children and I appreciate all your support.
World Book Day – 7th March 2019
The children looked great in their book character costumes! They had lots of fun choosing a book with their book token at WHSmith book shop.
The children shared their new books with some of our parents.
Snow Days / Adverse Weather Conditions
Just in case we are unable to get to school because of the weather, find below some activities you could be working on:
P5 Can you find nets of shapes (especially cubes or cuboids) using items in and around the house?
Use Topmarks Daily Ten to practise Mental Agility – choose shorter times and different operations to challenge yourself.
P4 Look for 3D objects around the house? Can you use any of them to build shapes/models. Describe your ‘model’ to someone else and count the number of faces, edges and vertices.
Use Hit the Button to practise your skills in Multiplying and Dividing – can you beat your score?
Make snowballs, throw them and then measure the distance of each throw using different items to measure with, e.g. footprints, sledges.
Find a quiet place (perhaps with a hot chocolate?!) and read for enjoyment.
Using your ICT skills, can you find any interesting facts about William Wallace or Robert the Bruce? Can you think of an interesting way to share these facts?
Watch Newsround and then discuss the main ideas with someone else in the house.
You have a project to complete at home about William Wallace and / or Robert the Bruce. You could use this time to work on your project. It is due on Tuesday 19th March 2019.
Try testing how long it takes for different sized snowballs to melt?
Bring snowballs inside (with parental permission!!), place them in different rooms and predict which snowball will melt first.
Roll snowballs of different sizes to roll down hills – predict which one will reach the bottom first.
Please share any other interesting or exciting activities on Google Classroom and we can see them when we are back in school. Describe what you are doing and what you are learning from it.
Forest Schools Week 1 – 1.3.19

Mary’s Meals Information – Thursday 15.11.18
We’ve collected an amazing 64 Back Packs for the children in Malawi. Today they started the first part of their journey. We filled 6 huge sacks which the van will take to the warehouse before they are shipped to Malawi on 18th December. They should reach the children at the end of February 2019. Thank you to everyone who has supported us with our Appeal.
Mammal Detectives – Thursday 8.11.18
Today we found out lots of information about animals living in the woods near our homes and the school thanks to our animal ambassadors and the Scottish Wildlife Trust.
STEM Activity – Marble Run Friday 2.11.18
We are learning about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) through our Science Topic ‘Reduce, re-use, Recycle’.
Today we had to build a marble run. We recycled rolls from inside kitchen paper, etc and used this and sellotape. Some of us had more success than others!
It’s a great way of helping us to work in teams and to build skills for later life when we have to work with others in our jobs.
Music Friday 2.11.18
Today we got to play instruments to show our understanding of beats and the lengths of beats.
Halloween Wednesday 31.10.18
Look at our super costumes!
We did our Community Walk around the local area too.
Judo Taster Tuesday 23.10.18
